Well since we have been on the topic of armrest for the last week or two I thought I would post some pics of my first attempts. These rests are done similar to what Tony Karol does and many thanks to Tony for showing me how it is done. This design is much simpler than the Laskin style that John posted pictures of a few days ago. The two different designs give different looks. I found the worst part of this was the binding, especial on the ribrest. I have taken lots of pictures of the process and maybe I can get the whole thing up here in the future. These things are sure a lot of work, but they do make the guitar really nice to hold. There you are. I still have to clean them up a bit, but you get the idea. I know I need to do a few more before I really get the hang of these things, but I'm happy for a first try. Josh |

Josh, I'm not the only one with holey wood, I see they have it in Canada too. Wow, you are one ambitious luthier, not only an arm-easing apparatus but one for the ribcage too. That would be apparatii? Plus the soundporting, man you planned on getting some mileage out of this test guitar. Looks like you were successful, congratulations. Keep up the good work and we'll be reading about you in American Lutherie and Guitarmaker. Does it offend a Canadian to get a magazine with that name? I know you are North American Canadians, right? Or am I confused again? ![]() |

Bruce I thought I would get as much milage out of this prototype guitar as I could. Dual side sound ports. Arm and rib rests. It is also short scale and has a slightly smaller soundhole. Should be a nice guitar. I will post pictures when it is done. Josh |

Lookin good Josh! Is that mahogany I see for the arm and rib rest? Dickey -- I got a good chuckle from your post -- that's hwy we call the organization "GAL" this side of the border. I initially found the acronym A.S.I.A. - to be a little different. |
